Department of Forest Resources
The Department of Forest Resources encourages a healthy environment and adds value to trees and greenery among our gray cities. A major in Forestry is dedicated to understanding effective management and sustainable use of the forest land for supporting national economy and public welfare and conserving the forest ecosystem. A major in Wood Science and Engineering is dedicated to extending wood resources to meet the growing needs of society through research on manufacturing and processing of wood-based materials which are indispensable to enhancing the quality of human life.
Objectives of EducationThe curriculum for Forestry majors applies science and engineering to conservation, restoration, production, holistic development, and improved utilization of forest resources. The area of study is designed for students who plan to specialize in ecological study on global Carbon Dynamics, sustainable forest managements, and in ecological restoration and biological protection for damaged forests by fires, pests, diseases, etc. To improve utilization of forest resources, Forest Recreation and Applied Study on Mushroom Production are also offered. Classes in geo-spatial information are available to students who intend to specialize in using GIS to incorporate spatial data into a wide range of environmental and engineering applications.
