■ Introduction of undergraduate school
Objectives of EducationTo meet the development of stockbreeding and dairy industry, the Department of Dairy Science was expanded and renamed Animal Science discipline in 1995. And later in 1999, it was replaced by Department of Animal Science.
The Department of Animal Science has three research sections, which are improvement of livestock, livestock production and utilization of livestock production. The department aims at cultivating high quality professionals with solid knowledge, originality and competence within all relevant fields.
The research of improvement of livestock aims at developing new animal resources through genetic engineering and artificial breeding. In livestock production area, teaching and research are dedicating to modernization and automation of breeding facilities, computerization of animal feeding and management, utilization of new feed source, as well as improvements of animal welfare and environmental. In utilization of livestock production area, it makes efforts to develop the processing technologies for various livestock products such as milk and meat. Overall, based on these areas, in response to the era of globalization our department have been training policy, management and distribution process.
The goals of education- To train high quality of students who are very competitive in the job market and relevant fields in the globalization era.
- To provide platform to obtain solid knowledge through basic research in the selected areas and further improve productivity and quality of livestock products.
Transgenic Animal & Lab., Monogastric Animal Production, Grassland Science, Animal Nutrition, Germ Cell Biotechnology in Animals & Lab., Animal Physiology, Microbial Engineering & Lab., Quantitative Animal Genetics, Molecular Biochemistry, Live-Stock Management and Economics, Meat Processing & Lab.
QualificationEngineer Livestock(GradeⅠ), Industrial Engineer Livestock, Insemination Technician, livestock grades four, Meat Grader, Secondary School Teacher(GradeⅡ)
Career after graduationThe graduates have a wide range of career options. They can choose to be an public officer related with stockbreeding. They can pursue a career in research institutes and various livestock-related enterprises. And they also have the ability to manage a farm.
On the other hand, the students who are interested in pursuing a master's or doctoral degree can continue their study in graduate school (e.g., the major of animal science and biotechnology or animal science and bioindustry) of Chonnam National University, or even study abroad.
■ Introduction of graduate school
Department of Animal Science and BiotechnologyAcademic curriculum graduate programs: master's and doctoral courses
The goals of education:
It makes efforts to cultivate outstanding students who have technology practical skills in relevant fields, such as livestock breeding, grass production, application of livestock production and management livestock. Students receive good basic training in livestock theory, as well as a great deal of professional trainings to apply theory to practice.
Department of Animal Science and BioindustryAcademic curriculum graduate programs: master's and doctoral courses
The goals of education:
The graduate programs emphasize a strong foundation in theory and applied research to develop dairy industry. And the department offers the following courses: ruminant nutrition, dairy nutrient management and dairy product manufacturing etc.
